Our History

Badger had worked for other restaurant equipment companies where he repaired and refurbished commercial cooking equipment and delivered as well. His forte was always refurbishing the used commercial equipment. His wife always says “He can take a fryolator out of a dumpster and make it look brand new again”

Badger would come home and tell his wife that he loved his job but he was tired of making money for everyone else. This is when NHRE began, Badger’s wife literally kicked him in the butt to start their own business. On a borrowed $5,000 budget, the new NHRE began late December 1999. Badger took care of answering the phones, ordering equipment, refurbishing and/or repairing equipment and delivering the equipment, while his wife took care of the accounting, insurance and the legal side of the business.

It was a few years later, Badger realized the need for sales assistance which is when Doug Flagg enters the picture. Doug brings many years of experience and connections so he was an immediate asset to building the business.

In 2006, property became available on Second Street in Manchester so NHRE moved to it’s current location at 783 Second Street. Sales began to rise, walk-in business began to soar, and the general public realized that they are just as welcome to shop in our store as the restaurants are. Doug was primarily focusing on customer sales while Badger was working on refurbishing, repairing and delivering the equipment. It was in 2008 that Vinny was added as our on-the-road service technician. Vinny brings with him many years of experience so it was an easy transition and a great asset to NHRE.

Business continued to grow and Badger found himself in need of not only an additional sales person but also an in-house equipment repair technician. As timing would have it, Scott was selling his family owned restaurant equipment company and still had his cousin “Bear” working for him who was an amazing restaurant equipment repair technician. So in 2013, both Bear and Scott joined the NHRE team.

I don’t want to be repetitive here to what is written in the Bio’s for our amazing employees, but the depth of knowledge and experience that our staff has is unparalled in the industry. One that you will experience for yourself when you come into our store. Our employees are welcoming, the store is always clean and the shelves are always stalked. If it’s not in our store, we will get it to the store.

It was in 2020 that Jen joined NHRE. Jen is most often the 1st voice you’ll hear if you call our store or see when you enter our store as she greets all customers. Jen has been a huge asset to the team with her responsibilities are daily sales data entry, greeting customers, answering phones and assisting with customer sales. But if you have met Jen or know Jen, you know that she will pick up the slack wherever it’s needed.

One thing you see consistent around NHRE; on our vehicles, long sleeve shirts, etc. is the word PRIDE. This is the mantra that Badger has always considered for his company even before he ever opened the doors.

We are a fully insured business, we maintain all our required licenses and remain in good standing with the State of NH. If you need to have a piece of equipment delivered, we do our own deliveries, with our own vehicles utilizing a wide range of moving equipment to assist our employees when delivering to our customers. Even our vehicles are clean all the time.
